Robert Pattinson Almost Passed Up Twilight

Robert Pattinson has shot to fame since starring as Edward Cullen in the hit movie Twilight. The 22-year-old now admits that he almost passed up auditioning for the role as he felt like an “arrogant prick.”

“I didn’t want to go in for the part initially, because it’s really putting yourself out there. Going in for the audition, I felt like a bit of an idiot. I felt prejudiced by anyone who turned up to the casting. I just thought even having the gall to go in means you’re a bit of an arrogant prick,” he says.

Pattinson is set to reprise his role in the upcoming sequel New Moon. Also onboard to fill their original roles is Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan and Taylor Lautner Jacob Black. Dakota Fanning has been tapped to play vampire Jane and Vanessa Hudgens is rumored to be a favorite for werewolf Leah Clearwater. New Moon is due out in November 2009.
